Precision Algorithms was founded in 1996 by Joseph Nemeth.

Educated in physics and mathematics at the University of Wyoming and the State University of New York, Stony Brook, Joseph started his working career in 1982 doing large-deflection finite element analysis and other custom mathematical modeling in corporate research firms, as well as teaching computer graphics at the college level in Denver, Colorado.

In 1988, he moved to Fort Collins with his young family to work for a small, but growing company in the tape backup industry, where he eventually became the lead developer and technical product manager for a line of over 50 tape and tape library products.

When that company reorganized radically in 1996, he founded his own consulting firm, Precision Algorithms, recently reorganized as Precision Algorithms LLC.
